I think this is one of the most important things a wife can pray for. Looking at it now I feel very limited. Nathan faithfully works to support us, get rid of our student loans, and save for a home and the kiddos.
These things are very noble and praiseworthy. But I also don't want us to loose focus of the Kingdom because we're busy in our own family circle. I don't know what God could be calling us too, and I have no idea where Nate would find the time, but I know that praying for it now can help God reveal and prepare us for what He's got in store.
"When you're around a man who is fulfilling his calling and doing what he was created to do, you're aware of his inner direction, confidence, and deep security."
If not, he's likely to feel broken down; hopeless - like life isn't going anywhere. Pray that he will be taken from this place, revealed what he needs to be doing, and that the doors will open for him.
Don't put limits or preconceived notions on this - the picture you're painting likely won't be the one God has in mind. Instead, pray, encourage, support and help him however you can without loosing sight of the purpose God has also placed in your life.
--God's call for your life will fit in with whatever your husband's calling is and will not conflict with it --
"God is not the author of confusion, strife, or unworkable situations. He is a God of perfect timing."
Remember, the enemy is going to be working hard to keep this from coming into fruition. Awake&Alert.
Dear Jesus I pray that Nathan will clearly hear the calling You have placed on his life. Help him to realize who he is in Christ and give him certainty that he was created for a high purpose. Enable him to walk worthy of his calling and become the man of God you made him to be. Help him to stay focused and not get sidetracked. Strike down discouragement and other forms of defeat. I pray that he will beable to see with Your eyes and have excitement in his heart for his purpose. I pray that Your desires and his flow together. Amen.
"We also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power." - 2 Thess 1:11
